If you have purchased equipment or completed a diving course with scuba jack then I would appreciate any comments you may have.

Thank you

I have recently completed an Advanced Open Water PADI course with scuba jack, and would like to share a few comments that i have.

After deciding that i wanted to do this course, i was given some clear advice on what sort of kit i would need for the course.

Due to the water temperature in the UK, i was told i would need a dry suit. After john advised me on what suit to get, i left it in his hands. After a huge price discount of way over £100, my suit arrived just a few days after handing over the money. At this point i was also given my 'ADVENTURES IN DIVING' book.

For me there were 5 parts of the book to complete. 'DEEP DIVE, PEAK PERFORMANCE BOUYANCY, WRECK DIVING, DRY SUIT DIVING, AND NAVAGATIONAL DIVING' each of these dives had their own mini exam at the end of the chapter I needed to complete for John to mark.

OK. so after all that we finally started our diving!

Dive 1. Horsea Island. Water temp 5degrees!!!
This was my 1st dive in two years and well it was a massive shock because of the water temp! but i must say it was great, before the 1st dive, john talked me through how to put a dry suit on, how to add air and how to dump air from the suit. After we got kitted up he got me in the water and checked i was wearing enough weight so i would sink!

Although we only went to around 6-8 meters i found this dive essental as i had never dived in a dry suit before. I left the water after around 20mins feeling like i had really learnt something and it was quite strange coming out the water dry! (i can't really say the same for my instructor though who was soaked!)

Dive 2. Horsea island.
This dive took place 40mins after my 1st dive, so we had grabbed a cup of tea and had a chat about the peak performance bouyancy dive. John explaned how breathing can help loads when controlling your bouyancy and said that i was going to try a fin pivot at the bottom.

This went really well! and the breathing did control alot! we also did a hovering bouyancy check, this was quite hard but i got there in the end!

so that was my 1st 2 dives over and done with!

a week later me and john left portsmouth at 7am and headed to Vobster Quay, Somerset.

after a few hours in the car we arrived and well.....what a place! this dive site had pretty much everything you would want to do a course. deep diving, wrecks....the lot!

Dive 3. Vobster Quay. Water Temp 7degrees.
so again we got kitted up, and john explained that we were going to do a deep dive to 28 meters. we worked out how long we could stay at that depth, and how long of a 5meter safety stop we should do.

once we had done that we did the deep dive, and it was brills! the deepest i had gone before was 18meters so going to nearly 30 was really good, but it's just such a shame your air goes so quickly the deeper you go!

we were down under the water for about 25mins so after doing a 5min safty stop we surfaced and got out to get a nice warm drink!

dive 4. Vobster Quay.
Ok. so this dive was the one i was looking forward to.... the wreck dive! the preperation took a little longer for this dive, as john had to explain about how you have to analyse the wreck for anything that could cut you, whether its safe to go into the wreck, what way the wreck is positioned etc...

so again we got into the water and descended to 20meters to see a sunken boat at the bottom! we swam around for about 25mins and took in all the sights of the wreck. it was amazing!

Dive 5. Vobster Quay.
So this is the last dive i did, the navagation dive.
the visability at Vobster Quay on that day was around 5meters ish, so underwater navagation was totally reliant on your compass.... i struggled with this alot and a few times i headed in the wrong direction! but it was very enjoyable! by then the air was running low, so we surfaced and headed to the changing rooms!

ok so all in all, the course locations were perfect, the instruction was top class, patient, and friendly. the kit i was supplied with was in excellent working order, and the dry suit i got through john was amazing! and very good value due to the discount john got me.

i definately enjoyed this course with Scuba-Jack and i would recommend john to anyone. value for money and great instruction are two things you cant go wrong with!
